A new website for the Centre of Middle Eastern Plants

The Centre for Middle Eastern Plants (CMEP) is part of the prestigious Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RBGE).  A world leading authority on the Middle Eastern environment, they work with local partners to develop sustainable and pragmatic projects.

CMEP had a page on the RBGE website but wanted to have a dedicated website that showcased their commercial services, skills and experience.

Our content management framework has arrived

Border Crossing Media's content management frameworkWe recently decided to develop a fast, flexible and modern framework for building websites and applications that has a CMS module built-in to the core. We wanted a system that was as powerful and flexible as an established framework that also provided CMS functionality for no fuss website deployment.

It’s easy to use, maintains the separation of business and presentation logic, and supports extensions through the use of plug-ins.

We’re aware that many similar PHP frameworks already exist and there are some truly great ones such as SymfonyZendKohana and CodeIgniter.

WordPress 3.0 been released

WordPress 3.0 has been released and is available to download. Tip: sign-up for the mailing list to receive notifications whenever a new stable release is made available.

We’ve been eagerly anticipating this release because we’re big fans of WordPress as a blogging platform (it powers this blog) and have used it as a CMS for a number of small jobs in the past. Given this release it’s safe to say we’re likely to be using it a whole lot more.
